Generally speaking, there’s not much you “need” in life beyond the basic necessities. That’s the short answer. Do you like how I got myself out of a job first sentence in?! As you may expect, there’s a longer answer, with a more nuanced approach. So what is a Life Coach and do you need one?
“People choose to hire life coaches because they want to do more tomorrow
than they can do today.”
The meaning I assign to “doing more” in this particular context is achieving more of what you really want in your life, not “doing more stuff” for the sake of productivity. That’s what a Life Coach helps you focus on:taking control of your present so you can create the future that suits you and your dreams. Contrary to Counselling or Psychotherapy, there’s no diagnosis or treatment, advice giving or past digging. It’s all about where you’re at right now, where you want to go and taking actions to get there.
You don’t need to wait for a crisis to work with a Life Coach
Taking your life to a new level is something you can aspire to, whether you’re at a crossroads (personally or professionally), or already achieving a lot of what you want but feeling like you’re not quite optimising your potential day in, day out.
It’s also worth to note that according to a 2018 report by PWC, coaching is one of the fastest growing profession in the world – it is so because it actually works. Coaches with the right training and tools do make a difference in people’s lives, I’ve experienced it firsthand. And here’s what the International Coach Federation reported in their Global Coaching Client Study: “Coaching clients noted greater self-confidence, enhanced relationships, more effective communications skills, better work-and-life balance and an improvement in wellness”.
So, if you:
have a feeling you’re only living a fraction of your potential (energy and health wise, work wise, family wise)
have lost track of who you are and what you want from life and need to gain clarity
are ready to fully embrace your calling but not sure where to start
have a tendency to prioritise everyone and everything else in your life and want to look after yourself better

It’s priceless to be clear about what you want, who you are and what you’re here for. It’s priceless to jump out of bed every morning looking forward to the day ahead and to go to bed at night proud of the choices you’ve made and the person you’ve been that day.
